Alien Queen

Now mine. Nice set.

How were the AVP alien six-packs released, because when I put an order in for the alien collector set that was what I was picturing, not the queen one which my FLGS claimed to be what they thought I was after because they weren't aware of the six-pack set (and I'm a touch irritated by the fact that I pre-ordered two collector sets and they only had one queen left in store)

Map Pack—Free with Purchase!

   From http://www.wizkidsgames.com/wk_article.asp?cid=41166:

HeroClix and HorrorClix players are always asking for the same thing: more maps! The double-sided map included in this Map Pack (yours free with any purchase) gives you the best of both worlds.

One map depicts a creepy carnival that’s perfect for HeroClix battles versus clown-based super villains, or as a set piece for the upcoming HorrorClix expansion, Freakshow! On the other side, the crowded passages of a ghastly castle are perfect for struggles against the likes of armored dictators or vampire cults!

These maps will be available only at WizKids-attended conventions during the 2007 season, so don’t miss out!

My guess is that these will be HeroClix-sized maps with blood splotches for placing victims if you decide to use them for HorrorClix instead. This news also tells us the name of the next HorrorClix expansion after The Lab... Freakshow.

Hellboy & B.P.R.D. Action Pack

I wasn’t sure whether to post this here or in heroclix!

Now we have confirmation that the Hellboy & B.P.R.D. Action Pack will include Abe Sapien and Liz Sherman, which is great news! Finally we have the team members who we should have seen in the first IndyClix set!

Hellboy returns to HeroClix and he’s not alone, as members of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense are coming too! This special 7-figure action pack contains popular figures from Mike Mignola’s Hellboy universe including Hellboy, Liz, Abe Sapien, and more!

You can read more at the Wizard Universe online store. Here’s an important bit:

Item is due to ship by Late April, 2007.

Doctor Who

Because I think it lends itself far better to Horror rather than Heroclix, how would you folks work a Doctor Who expansion? With over 40 years of history, where would you start?

Werewolves and vampires are pretty much already covered, but you could certainly throw Haemovores in there for an interesting looking piece that's somewhere between a vamp and a zombie, and get a Unique out of both the Ancient One and Fenric.

Faction Paradox - from the BBC novels, their own spin-off novels, audio adventures and comic - are a bunch of vicious time traveling voodoo cultists. Useful REVs, with their big bad Grandfather Paradox as a unique.

Cybermen are ideal REVs - warriors, lieutenants, leaders - with the Controller as a unique. Personally I'd prefer something old-school for the minis (Tomb of the Cybermen) but realistically it'd be the new series design.

From what I've heard of Torchwwod so far, I think that Captain Jack and Gwen are probably the only grabable characters from there, so I'd throw them into a collector's pack along with 9th Doctor, 10th Doctor, Rose & Mickey. Probably an argument for including Martha, though with that combo I'd try for a Dalek instead. You really couldn't have more than one without completely slaughtering everything else on the board.

The Doctors would pretty much all have to be Uniques. The Peter Cushing Doctor would be a LE.

The Master is a decent high-point REV.

The Brigadier would be a mid-range REV.

Autons most definitely as a REV, possibly with a Nestene Unique.
